During 1977 it became very clear to me that the service station business was changing in a way I didn’t like. I had to depend to much on other people to continue to make it. I wanted my work ethic, hours and passion to guide my success and not be dependent on someone else. Franklin Florence, a Realtor had rejoined the fire department and we became good friends. Yes he influenced my decision to explore the Real Estate and Building business. Always being independent, I decided to take the plunge and completely change careers. To a lot of people this is one of the hardest things they will ever do. To me, once I did my homework, the decision was simple, move forward. I remember the day I sold my station to Charlie Kaelin. It was still mid-morning, we were done with all the paperwork, I shook hands with all the and men walked to my car, I drove off, never looking back. I went home, changed clothes and went to Century 21 Florence Realtors, my new business home.

ALGAR:
About the time I was getting into the Real Estate business a real good friend, Gar Davis, (who at that time was building with his father), started doing some small re-modeling jobs on the side. Gar had lots of contacts and all the experience in the world. I learned a lot from him. We only did this for a short period of time, but it was fun and again I learned a lot.
